The Dark Villages of Spain
Many people have heard of the "white villages" of Andalusia, but very few have discovered their quaint slate built black counterparts. Be among the first to enjoy these traditional villages!
Everybody has heard about the white-washed villages in Andalusia, but, what about their black counterparts!
This group of villages takes its name from their appearance, due to the abundance of slate in their roofs and walls. This rock has been traditionally used as a key element for their architecture, thus providing them this characteristic dark color.
The black architecture is found all throughout the Madrid, Segovia, and Guadalajara provinces, thanks to the mountain ranges of Ayllon and Alto Rey.
We suggest an outdoor experience, a road trip through the Black Village route of Guadalajara, which comprises five villages in a just 30-mile radio, and only two hours away from Madrid!
Pick up your car and discover the deepest corners of Spain, how picturesque they are, and well as the rich local gastronomy!
